La suburbana villetta di Mieto ha il vanto di aver dato il nome ad una delle più cospicue e oramai più longeve famiglie di Belluno. Posse dendone in antico gran parte, o di la venendo, di la quella famiglia nominossi in latino de Mil liarz'o e in volgare da]! Iz'er o da Mz°ero e più tardi da Me'aro, finchè, lasciata nel secolo XVII la particella derivativa, si disse semplicemente Mz'aro e poi Miari, come si chiama al presente.
